Enforcement

City Rangers play a vital role in enforcing key logistic services within the City boundary.

The role of the City rangers includes:

  • Keeping, updating and securing all files, registers, journals and other records in respect of Taxis, Buses, Carriers, Parks, Notices, Summons, Open Air Services, Arrears, etc.
  • Receive and attend complaints concerning the above matters and any other that the Chief Executive Officer may from time to time instruct.
  • Maintaining monthly computation of bus station, taxi stand, minibus stand and carrier stand charges raising invoices and updating relevant revenue registers.
  • Preparing notices to all offenders regarding arrears on the bus station, taxi stands, minibus stands and carrier stand. Enforcement of bylaws in regards to encroachments and obstructions plus other matters relating to council parks and reserves and anti-litter notices.
  • Processing and documenting taxi bases, mini bus bases and carrier bases application and other related matters.
  • Preparing reports for the council in the concerned areas.
  • Monitor illegal operations of taxis, minibuses and carriers regarding their bases, vehicle registration and permits.
  • Ensure the Lautoka (control and use of streets) bylaws are enforced-clearance of the street from obstruction and prohibited trading on the street.
  • Look after all council parks and reserves as to councils properties therein.
  • Monitor all activities including Open-air service which may be approved by the council to be held in each park.
  • Control noise nuisance around the city area.
  • Control of streets (removal of encroachment or obstruction).
  • Serving of notices to the bus, minibus, taxis and carrier operators.
  • Relevant enforcement of Land Transport Authority Regulations and Acts on traffic offenders.
  • Serving of notices and summons on behalf of other departments to respective offenders.
